Michele Hickey Gemin is a ceramicist working in a stoneware, combining the techniques of wheel throwing and hand building to create sculptural yet functional objects.

Each piece is a composite of several wheel thrown forms, assembled to create an object that is more than the sum of this parts. Thick, layered slips - sometimes coloured - add texture and depth to her work, enhancing both the visual and tactile qualities of each piece.

Through her work, she explores the intersection of art and craft, designing objects that elevate the everyday and invite both use and contemplation.

Michele received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from F.I.T. in New York City. After living in New York, London and Krakow, she settled in Venice where she opened her studio LAM Ceramica.
